✦ The portrait
The face
as a story.
In Faith's portraits the face is never alone. Flowers bloom through the hair, Arabic script drifts across the canvas, colour runs like memory. The likeness is there, but so is the feeling of the person.
Portrait commissions can be painted from a sitting in the studio, from photographs Faith takes, or from images you provide. Words, names or verses with personal meaning can be woven in as calligraphy.
✦ Arabic calligraphy
The word,
made art.
Calligraphy runs through Faith's work: sometimes woven into a portrait, sometimes standing alone as the whole composition. Square Kufic geometry, flowing script, blessings and names, painted on grounds of saturated colour and distressed gold.
Calligraphy commissions can carry a name, a verse, a blessing or a word with personal meaning, sized for a majlis, an entrance or a private study.
Lit the way the old masters lit a chapel: so the eye finds the face first, and the heart follows.
